Who is Purnima Dalal?

Nita Ambani hails from Mumbai, India, where she was brought up in a middle-class Gujarati family by her parents, Ravindrabhai Dalal and Purnima Dalal. While limited details are available about her parents, it is known that her father held a senior executive position at the Birla Group, a prominent Indian conglomerate.

Purnima, belonging to the same middle-class background, is often seen alongside her daughter, Nita, clad in elegant chiffon sarees. Notably, she frequently accompanies Nita to Mumbai Indians' IPL matches, earning her the affectionate moniker of 'Prayer Aunty' among fans.

Mamta Dalal is the younger sibling in the Dalal family. With a four-year age gap between herself and her sister Nita Ambani, Mamta has dedicated herself to the field of education. Currently serving as an educator at the prestigious Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Mamta is also a member of the school's management committee. Notably, her sister Nita Ambani is the founder and chairperson of the institution, renowned for providing quality education to children from influential backgrounds.

Kokilaben Ambani: Matriarch Of Ambani Family

Kokilaben Ambani is the grandmother of Anant Ambani and the wife of Dhirubhai Ambani. She reportedly holds the maximum stake in Reliance Industries Limited and boasts a net worth of about ₹18,000 crore. While not directly involved in the business, it was her support and strength that guided Dhirubai Ambani to build the Reliance empire that we know today. She once told Mid-Day in an interview about her upbringing and education in a Gujarati-medium school.

She told the publication, "Even though I had studied in a Gujarati school, I had started learning English immediately after coming to Mumbai. Dhirubai said, 'Kokila, why don't you learn English?' I jumped at the suggestion. He would take me to five-star hotels so that I could cultivate a taste for Chinese, Mexican, Italian, and Japanese cuisine... In short, he moulded me so well that I would not feel out of place anywhere. I constantly adapted to change."

Nita Ambani

Nita Ambani has established herself as an indomitable force in the family since her marriage to Mukesh Ambani in 1985. The philanthropist and businesswoman is the chairperson and founder of the Reliance Foundation, Dhirubhai Ambani International School and a director of Reliance Industries.

An art collector, she launched the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in Mumbai in 2023. Nita Ambani is also the owner of the Indian Premier League team Mumbai Indians. She became the first member of the Indian Olympic Committee and recently set up the first pavilion called India House for Indian athletes competing in the Paris Summer Olympics 2024.

Radhika Merchant

Radhika Merchant is the woman of the hour, who is a prominent figure in the Indian business and social scene. She is the daughter of Encore Healthcare co-founders Viren and Shaila Merchant. Her net worth is reportedly over ₹10 crore. According to Vogue, Radhika Merchant is the managing director of the pharmaceutical giant. She met Anil Ambani when she was in California for her higher education.

Tina Ambani has been actively involved in Reliance Group and has served as the chairperson of Reliance Hospitals and Kokilaben Ambani Hospital. She has also founded the Harmony Art Foundation.

Nina Kothari

Nina Kothari is a businesswoman and the daughter of Dhirubai and Kokilaben Ambani, the sister of Mukesh and Anil Ambani. She married businessman Bhadrashyam Kothari in 1986 and took over as the chairperson of Kothari Sugars and Chemicals Limited after his death from cancer in 2015. She has two children. Her daughter is Nayantara, who is married to businessman Shamit Bhartia, the grandson of KK Birla.

Deepti Salgaoncar

Deepti Salgaoncar is the youngest daughter of Dirubhai and Kokilaben Ambani. She is the vice-chairperson and a member of the advisory board of Sunaparanta, an art centre in Panaji, Goa, which was founded by her husband Dattaraj Salgaocar. They have a daughter, Isheta Salgaocar, who is the Vice President of Corporate Development at Salgaocar Corporation Pvt. Ltd. Isheta is the wife of Atulya Mittal, the founder of Nexzu Mobility.

Isha Ambani

Isha Ambani is the only daughter of Mukesh and Nita Ambani, and the twin sister of Akash Ambani. She is reportedly the non-executive director of Jio Financial Services Limited (JFSL). Isha Ambani is married to Anand Piramal, who heads the financial services businesses of the Piramal Group. She has twin children, Aadiya and Krishna. 

Recently, Isha Ambani candidly opened up about her IVF journey of conceiving her twins. "I’m very quick to say that my twins were conceived via IVF because that’s how we’ll normalize it, right? Nobody should feel isolated or ashamed. It’s a difficult process. When you’re going through it, you’re physically exhausted," she told Vogue India.

Shloka Mehta

Shloka Mehta is a philanthropist, wife of Akash Ambani, and daughter-in-law of Mukesh and Nita Ambani. She is the daughter of businessman Arun Russel Mehta and Mona Mehta.  She studied Anthropology at Princeton University followed by getting a Master's degree from the London School of Economics.
